Our Story

A family business that built an industry standard.

Cox Pools was founded in 1958 by a Panhandle family who believed a swimming pool should be engineered with the same care as the home it sits behind. Over 68 years and three generations, that founding conviction has not shifted, it has compounded.

The coastline from Panama City Beach through the 30A corridor is full of our work, and a fair number of the builders competing with us today learned the trade in our yard. We were early to most of what this market now calls standard: gunite construction, Pebble Tec finishes, automated equipment, and in-house warranty service. We keep the trades that decide whether a pool lasts, plaster, paver decking, and service, inside the company, where we can stand behind them unconditionally.

The interior finish is where a pool quietly succeeds or fails. Ours is applied by our sister plaster company, which means the crew answers to us and the warranty never gets handed off to someone else.

One schedule and one standard from excavation to the last paver instead of waiting on a subcontractor who answers to three other builders at once. Fewer handoffs means fewer delays and one clear point of accountability.

Most companies show tile samples. Our Panama City Beach showroom has two complete pools on-site, so you can see tile, coping, plaster finishes, and real water before you make a single decision. Most clients say it is where the design finally clicks.

From the founding generation to the team leading projects today, Cox Pools has never changed hands or gone corporate. Decisions are made by people who live and work in this community, not by a board in another state.

A team that builds together and stays

Many of our crew members have been with us for a decade or more. That kind of continuity shows in the work and it is why clients who built with us in the 1990s still call us for renovations today.

Training the trade, not just hiring it

We have trained more pool builders than we can count, some of whom now run competing companies. We consider that a measure of how seriously we take craft. The people who leave here know what right looks like.
