Pool Renovations & Remodeling
We renovate pools we built and pools we did not.
Most renovation contractors will only resurface. We handle the full scope: new plaster, retiling, coping and paver deck replacement, structural redesigns, equipment modernization, and everything in between. If the pool exists, we can improve it.
Our sister plaster company applies every interior finish, which means the crew answers to us and the warranty stays with us. Our in-house paver decking team does the same for the deck. One company, one schedule, one point of contact, from the first assessment to the day the water goes back in.
Transformation
The difference a renovation actually makes.
Sixty-eight years of building pools means we have seen everything that can go wrong with one. Rough plaster, cracked coping, faded tile, dated decking, these are fixable, and the fix tends to outlast the original finish.
Bay County renovation, full plaster resurfacing, new waterline tile, and coping replacement.
What We Renovate
Every part of the pool. Every trade kept in house.
From a single resurfacing job to a full structural redesign, here is what our renovation crews handle, and who actually does the work.
Plaster Resurfacing
Old plaster turns rough, porous, and dull. Our sister plaster company strips and replaces the interior finish with Pebble Tec, quartz blend, glass bead, or standard plaster, whatever your budget and timeline call for. The finish crew answers to us, and so does the warranty.
Paver Decking & Coping
Cracked concrete decking and outdated coping are the most visible signs of an aging pool. Our in-house paver crew replaces both, travertine, porcelain, brick, or natural stone, on the same schedule as the rest of the renovation without waiting on a subcontractor.
Tile Replacement
Waterline tile takes a beating from chemistry fluctuations and seasonal temperature changes. We remove and reset individual tiles or replace the entire waterline band with contemporary glass, mosaic, or stone tile. Grout repair and spot replacement available when a full replacement is not warranted.
Equipment Modernization
Older single-speed pumps, gas heaters without automation, and outdated chlorine systems cost more to run every month than a modern Jandy setup. We replace and integrate variable-speed pumps, heat pumps, LED lighting, and iAqualink automation as a complete package, not piecemeal.
Structural Redesign
Adding a tanning ledge, converting a rectangular pool to freeform, installing a negative edge, or adding an attached spa, structural changes require gunite work and engineering. We handle the full scope: permits, demolition, new gunite, plumbing, and finish.
Water Features & Add-Ons
Sheer descents, deck jets, fire bowls, and scuppers can be added to an existing pool during a renovation, not just at new construction. Plumbing integration and gas line routing are handled by our crews so there is no coordinating a separate trade after the concrete is already poured.
The Renovation Process
From assessment to first swim, here is what to expect.
Most renovation surprises happen because the scope was not fully understood before work started. We fix that at step one.
On-Site Assessment
We visit the pool, evaluate the shell condition, existing equipment, decking, tile, and plumbing, and document everything that needs attention. You get an honest scope, not a lowball estimate padded with change orders later. If structural work is involved, we pull the survey and check permit requirements before we price anything.
Proposal & Finish Selection
We walk you through a line-item proposal and bring you into our Panama City Beach showroom to choose interior finishes, coping, tile, and decking materials in person. You see the actual colors and textures in real light before anything is signed, not from a two-inch sample chip on a countertop.
Permits & Demolition
Structural renovations require permits, and we handle the submittals. Non-structural work, resurfacing, tile, deck replacement, typically does not. Once permits are in hand, the pool is drained, old materials are removed, and the shell is inspected for any structural issues that only become visible once the water is out.
Renovation Work
Gunite patching, new plumbing, tile set, equipment installation, paver decking, and coping, all on one coordinated schedule. Our sister plaster company applies the interior finish. Our in-house paver crew handles the deck. No waiting on a sub who answers to three other builders at the same time.
Startup & Handoff
Water goes in, chemistry is balanced, and we walk you through the new equipment before handing over the keys. Warranty service stays a single call to 850.234.7800 ext. 231, our department, not a manufacturer's 1-800 number.

Financing
Renovate now. Pay over the next few seasons.
Renovation and resurfacing projects qualify for the same financing programs as new pool construction. We work with third-party lending partners who understand pool work, including projects where materials and labor are staged over several weeks.
Ask About Financing-
Resurfacing and remodels both qualify
Plaster, tile, paver decking, equipment upgrades, and full redesigns can all be financed, not just ground-up new builds.
-
Prequalify before the assessment
Knowing your approved budget before we scope the renovation makes the proposal conversation more productive and avoids redesigning after the fact.
-
Line-item transparency on every proposal
Your designer walks through the proposal term by term alongside your financing options, so you are not comparing two different sets of numbers.

Questions
Straight answers about pool renovations.
The things renovation clients actually ask us on the phone, answered without the runaround.
Do you renovate pools you did not originally build?
Yes. A significant portion of our renovation work is on pools built by other contractors. We assess the shell condition, existing plumbing, and equipment before scoping the project, so you get an honest picture of what is there before any work starts.
How long does a pool renovation take?
It depends on scope. A resurfacing-only job typically takes one to two weeks once the pool is drained and prepped. Full renovations involving new decking, tile, equipment, and structural changes run longer, we give you a schedule at the proposal stage, not a vague range after you sign.
What finishes are available for resurfacing?
Pebble Tec, quartz blend, glass bead, and standard plaster. All applied by our sister plaster company, not a subcontractor, so the crew answers to us and the warranty stays with us. You can see every finish in person at our Panama City Beach showroom.
Can I add a tanning ledge, spa, or water feature to my existing pool?
Yes. Structural additions like tanning ledges, negative edges, and attached spas require gunite work and typically permits. Water features like sheer descents, deck jets, and fire bowls can often be added with plumbing integration during the renovation. We scope all of it at the initial assessment so there are no surprise line items after demo starts.
Does a renovation require permits?
Structural changes, adding square footage, depth changes, new plumbing, require permits, which we handle. Non-structural work like resurfacing, tile replacement, and equipment swaps typically does not. We confirm what applies to your project at the assessment stage.
Can I finance a pool renovation?
Yes. Resurfacing, paver decking, equipment upgrades, and full redesigns all qualify through our third-party lending partners, the same programs available for new pool construction. Ask about financing at the renovation consultation, or call us to get a sense of your options before the assessment.
Who handles warranty service after the renovation?
Cox Pools has its own in-house warranty department. You call 850.234.7800 ext. 231 and our team opens the claim, schedules a technician, and closes it out. We do not route you to a manufacturer's support line, not for the plaster, not for the equipment, not for anything we installed.
What does a pool renovation cost?
Scope drives cost more than anything else. A resurfacing-only job lands in a very different range than a full deck replacement with structural modifications. We give you a line-item proposal after the on-site assessment, not a ballpark over the phone, so you see exactly what you are paying for before committing to anything.
